Program Description:

HEALTH, SOCIAL WELFARE, AND RELATED SERVICES: Federation?s Center for Social Responsibility brings sustenance, help and empowerment to the most vulnerable and disadvantaged members of our community. The center convenes and works with community organizations to plan and implement an array of innovative and effective health and human services programs that address the needs of the Jewish elderly, the impoverished, at-risk Jews and Jews facing insecurity. Programs include: Mitzvah?s Food Pantry and Miriam?s Project. UNITED JEWISH APPEAL: Federation's Center for Israel and Overseas embraces the notion of K'lal Yisrael - we are one people - by connecting our local community with Jews in Israel and in countries around the world. The center advocates and provides high-impact support for Israel, and supporting Jews in need globally, including immigrants, the elderly, children, and victims of terror. JEWISH EDUCATION: Federation's Center for Jewish Life and Learning sustains and grows the Greater Philadelphia Jewish community by promoting Jewish identity and helping Jews connect to their heritage, to each other and to Jewish community organizations. The center conducts research and creates strategic programming to have impact in the areas of adult education, day school education and supplementary educational opportunities, as well as community outreach.

Impact Summary from the Nonprofit

Federation professionals and volunteer leaders use an in-depth process to fund those community organizations and programs that have proven most effective at addressing the critical priorities of today's Jewish world. Thanks to donor and volunteer support, Federation is able to offer comprehensive support for vulnerable seniors and other at-risk populations throughout Greater Philadelphia; enhance formal and informal Jewish educational programs for children and families; and assist Israel and her people, as well as at-risk Jews in the Former Soviet Union.
