Impact Summary from the Nonprofit
Founded in 2010. During our first three years, we provided over $48,000 in financial assistance to 100 individual families served by Children's Hospital of Richmond. In 2012, we launched the Lunch Bunch, providing healthy weekly meals to caregivers whose children are in the hospital at Children's Hospital of Richmond at VCU Health Systems. We continue to seek funding through individual and corporate donations that will allow us to expand our reach within the Richmond community. Current goals include providing more grants to families in need, either by expanding the number given in the Richmond area or expanding our geographic reach.
Leadership
Rachel J Reynolds
Term:
Since
Jan
2010
Profile:
Rachel is a speech-language pathologist and behavior analyst by trade but has worked within the nonprofit and public sector for over 15 years. She is currently working towards a certificate in Nonprofit Management through VCU. She also owned and ran a children's enrichment center franchise in the Richmond area with her husband (Romp n' Roll).
Leadership Statement:
When your child is facing a life threatening illness, your life stops. While your focus will inherently be drawn to helping your child in any way possible, the world goes on. While you find yourself pulled away from your day-to-day responsibilities (emotionally and physically), there are still bills to pay and things that must be done to keep your life on track. The function of our organization is not to cure a disease or solve all of a family's problems. Rather, we hope to make an unbearable situation a little more bearable by providing generous financial assistance that will allow parents to breathe a little easier at the end of a month, knowing that they have one (or two) fewer things to worry about. Worrying about a sick child is difficult enough.

In 2012, we launched the Lunch Bunch, a collaborative program with Connor's Heroes.
