You should check out IRS Publication 4221, an on-line brochure that serves as a compliance guide for nonprofit organizations. It presents important information in straightforward, easy-to-understand language.

Also of interest is IRS Publication 4220, an on-line brochure outlining the process of applying for 501(c)3 tax exempt status. You can find both of these useful publications at the IRS Web site.
