Mission Statement
We recover usable building materials from the waste stream, and we help families / organizations who would like to save money while making upgrades to their home / building. Impact Summary from the Nonprofit
Through mid-2009, we have "rescued" 250 tons of reusable materials and rerouted thousands more to recycling markets. We've partnered with organizations in an affordable housing project that installed nearly 250 kW of renewable energy and saved much more than that through efficiency upgrades.

Profile:
<p>Amy Bauman used frustration to fuel her business plan. During a home renovation, she was disappointed that her contractor did not have the means to find others who might reuse outgoing building materials. The result: greenGoat, a Boston-based consultancy dedicated to helping architects and contractors reroute unwanted materials back into reuse. To date, greenGoat has forwarded 250 tons of material back into use and thousands more to recycling markets. Ms. Bauman graduated from Denison with a double major in psychology and economics and pursued a career at Fidelity Investments. After more than a decade, Ms. Bauman found the business world experience very useful in building greenGoat's marketing presence, operations, and overall strategy. </p>
Leadership Statement:
<div>Thanks for being interested enough in green buildings to read this far! We point out possible benefits for change, and we BEGIN that list with business benefits. Waste is wasted money too ... not just natural resources. By framing the conversation in business terms, I think traditional businesses let us try to work one or two new approaches into their working formula. It's a quiet revolution in small incremental steps. </div>
<div> </div>
<div>When I see green building benefits show up in the "engines" of commerce, I'll know we've won. Lending practices, appraisal forms, construction specs, building code ... all the dry stuff that doesn't make headlines. That's where I want to be.</div>
