Impact Summary from the Nonprofit

YES is the only youth development agency in Boston that engages inner-city youth in year-round outdoor recreational sports and adventures. YES has a significant impact on thousands of Boston youth each year by providing them with life-changing opportunities through outdoor sports, mentoring and leadership development programs to develop determination, self-discipline, and life skills that lay the foundation for greater success in school and increased capacity to be contributing members in their communities.

YES’s programs have a long history of positive results and impact on children and teens. A recent survey of YES alumni found that 100% have graduated high school, 29% hold a graduate degree and 50% engage in physical activity 3 or more times a week. In addition, a recent survey of YES families found that parents felt that YES’s Operation SnowSports program helped their children to learn independence, self-confidence and perseverance. 94% said YES helped their children “learn that they can do things they didn’t think they could do before.” Parents were unanimous in saying they would recommend YES to friends and family. YES uses records of attendance and demographics; instructor and supervisor observations and progress measures; and participant surveys.
