Mission Statement
The mission of Lawyers Without Borders is to protect the integrity of judicial process, worldwide, through pro bono service. It fulfills its mission through advancing the Rule of Law; supporting justice through neutral observation; capacity building of NGOs, developing community access to justice programming, empowerment of marginalized members of society and training of lawyers and judges. We strive for a neutral orientation in all of our work.

Profile:
Ms. Christina M. Storm is the Founder and President of Lawyers Without Borders, Inc. Prior to founding LWOB in 2000, she maintained an active trial practice for over 25 years, most recently (since 1991) as a partner in Byrne & Storm, PC a firm of 5-6 lawyers she managed with her husband in Hartford, Connecticut. for approximately 20 years she served as a volunteer special master in the Superior Court mandated mediation program in Connecticut. She has served as an officer of the Connectictut Bar Associations International Section for the last several years and was recognized in 2006 as one of Connecticut's "Super Lawyers" in International Law. Ms. Storm has been a member of the American Bar Association's Dispute Resolution, International Law and Senior Lawyers Sections. Prior to 2008 she worked full time with LWOB on an uncompensated basis, directing contributions to LWOB largely into sustaining operations and project development initatives. For her efforts as Founder of Lawyers Without Borders, Inc., Ms. Storm was awarded the Otto Walter Alumni Award in International Law from New York Law School. She received her B.A. from Manhattanville College and J.D. from New York Law School.
Leadership Statement:
Naysayers said years ago that lawyers would not support a largely volunteer oriented organization. They were wrong. Lawyers from around the world have rallied to grow LWOB into a formidable resource to put skilled lawyers, barristers, solicitors and advocates into the field where they can make a difference for those who are marginalized and underserved. This was truly an effort, though started by one, sustains because of the commitment of many.

Liberia: Conducted Trial Advocacy Training for Judges, Prosecutors, Defense Counsel and graduating law students in Liberia. Conducted a Community outreach there, focusing on reporting crime, fighting corruption and differentiating between bribery and bail concepts-- through billboards, posters, dramatic presentation and public service announcements.

Program Description:
LWOB has developed considerable expertise developing illustrated materials accompanied by trainer manuals that provide legally oriented information, education and counsel on subjects of gender violence, succession rights, human trafficking, tax compliance and mediation and consensus building. These graphic novels are created by lawyer teams, supported by considerable research and tailored to specific regions and contexts. All graphic novels are accompanied by easy to understand trainer manuals to build capacity of regional oganizations working with the target stakeholder communities.

Program Description:
Trainer Manuals for trainers working with target communities on access to justice issues, where to obtain legal support, law enforcement, etc. Trainer manuals accompany all educational programming, exercises, activities, graphic novels, game and role play materials. Program budgets cover hard production and distribution costs. All costs associated with creation of the manuals is supported with pro bono contributions of lawyers.
