Program Description:
<p>The acquisition of land and conservation easements, either through donations or purchase, for permanent protection from development.</p>
Program Long-Term Success:
The permanent protection of conserved land, agricultural, forest, wetlands and forever-wild lands to provide recreational and conservation opportunities for area residents and vistors; and to preserve wildlife habitat, scenic vistas and the quality of life.
Program Short-Term Success:
Strategic plannng and conservation to save those lands that are under immediate threat from development.

Program success can be moniutored by the number of acres preserved, and the quality of the conservation values of that property.
Program Success Examples:
The recent five-year collaboration with the Town of New Milford, the Trust for Public Lands, Connecticut Farmland Trust, private donors,the State of Connecticuirt and the USDA to permanently protect New Milford's Hunt Hill Farm.
