Leadership
Mr. Edward H. Morgan
Profile:
Ed Morgan is President of Christian Herald Association, which operates New York's Bowery Mission and Kids With A Promise. Christian Herald was founded in 1879 as a weekly New York newspaper and has had a major role in faith-based New York charity for 129 years.
Appointed to his present post in 1993, Mr. Morgan spent 20 years as a General Electric communications executive serving many of its top officers in New York, Washington and Stamford (CT) before coming to Christian Herald. He holds degrees from Rutgers University and the University of Illinois (MS, Journalism) and served as a U.S. Air Force officer during Vietnam.
During his tenure, the organization has focused on a results-oriented purpose statement, tripled donations in the last ten years, raised its visibility in New York, operated a top-performing Department of Homeless Services contract, and launched After-School Centers in the boroughs as a supplement to its 114-year old Mont Lawn summer camp program. Recently the organization opened a new Women's Center on Manhattan?s Upper East Side. During its 129 years, the Bowery Mission has served more than 21 million meals to New York's homeless, offered hundreds of thousands of nights of shelter and seen thousands of lives transformed through its highly-regarded residential programs.
