Impact Summary from the Nonprofit
<div>While Wally's Friends offers affordable spay and neuter to all of Hamilton County and the surrounding rural counties, our primary goal is to impact communities with the highest numbers of animals entering shelters, AND the areas of counties where there are little to NO shelters or other animal services. Exact statistics of our measured success are not yet completely available due to the length of time the clinic has been open, and the fact that we impact Chattanooga, Hamilton County (areas with shelters) as well as rural areas with no shelters. The human population in Hamilton County has also grown considerably since 2006. As of August 3, 2012 the clinic has altered 57,100 animals. At any given time, 37%-48% of all females(cats and dogs) entering the clinic are either in heat or already pregnant! The clinic has altered 33, 488 females. (as of August 3, 2012.) 10,720 of those females, or roughly one third! were in heat or pregnant. <u>Based on this percentage and a conservative number of six animals born per litter (many have more), we can safely assume a minimum of 64,320 more animals would have been born had they been left unaltered from November 2006-August 3,2012. This is a result from only ONE clinic, and considers only a first generation born.</u> A truly humane community takes care of its domestic animal population through spay and neuter, not by use of euthanasia as a means of controling the epidemic of pet overpopulation. Lowering numbers of unwanted animals in shelters saves communities thousands of taxpayer dollars and halts senseless immoral killing.</div>
<div> </div>
<div>Animals are usually abandoned in areas of low wealth, adding problems to areas already distressed. Pet overpopulation is also a health issue as homeless animals are not vaccinated against Rabies. Wally's Friends vaccinates 600-700 animals per month. 95% of animals entering the clinic are overdue for Rabies vaccine or have never had a Rabies vaccination. Unaltered or unsocialized dogs roaming the streets, starving, and looking to breed are more prone to attack people or other pets.</div>
<div> </div>
<div>Wally's Friends provides a much needed and long overdue service by elevating quality of life for people and animals. </div>

Leadership

Leadership Statement:
<div><strong>SPAY and NEUTER, a very simple elective surgery is the short and long range answer to pet overpopulation. S/N performed in a high volume, high quality, state of the art protocol setting is the only <u>NON LETHAL avenue to end needless suffering of innocent dogs and cats that humans have domesticated. All domesticated animals rely completely upon us as intelligent humans to guide them and care for them for their entire life. A small percentage of the human population is uneducated about the importance of spay and neuter, and a large percentage of the human population cannot afford a private veterinarian. Wally's Friends provides the simple solution to end<br />pet overpopulation, and we must work together to make our communities a truly humane environment in which to live.</u></strong> </div><div> </div>
