Mission Statement

There are over 35 million people living with HIV throughout the world. The vast majority are struggling to survive in the global south and developing nations. Less then 1/3 of the people who desperately need access to HIV treatment in order to survive, currently receive it. The reason? Frequently it is because of government inaction and/or corporate greed. Health GAP fights to eliminate the barriers to health care.

Jennifer Flynn was the co-founder and Executive Director of the NYC AIDS Housing Network for 9 years. She holds a Masters Degree in Nonprofit Management from the New School for Social Research and was the first US based and focused human rights advocate to be awarded the Columbia University Center for the Study of Human Rights Advocates Training Fellowship. She is currently a Taproots Fellow with the Center for Community Change and was a 2005 winner of the Robert Wood Johnson Foundation Community Health Leadership Award, a recipient of the Union Square Award, the One City Award, the NYC Council Hero Award, the Harlem YMCA Advocacy Award and was selected by Poz Magazine as one of the 10 most promising AIDS activists.
