Mission Statement

Founded in 1996, the Center's mission is to provide training to make premier care available to those least likely to be able to access quality services. High caliber supervision and training for mental health and human services professionals are provided by faculty/supervisors, senior members of the family therapy field who have taught and/or supervised in graduate and post graduate academic and clinical training programs, have authored relevant articles and books and have presented their work nationally and internationally. Teaching and supervision emphasize the importance of relationships within the economic, social and cultural realities of people's lives.

Hinda Winawer, co-founder of the Center, has been a psychotherapist, teacher, and organizational consultant in academic and clinical settings in the US and abroad. She has published numerous articles and chapters, is Charter member of the American Family Therapy Academy (AFTA), and currently serves on its Board of Directors. Ms. Winawer is Faculty at the Ackerman Institute for the Family, and member of the Editorial Board of the journal Family Process.
