Profile:
Professor Pandey's career in natural products and pharmaceutical research has spanned over 40 years with positions at the National Cancer Institute (US), Abbot Laboratories, Lyphomed and his most recent position was as the President, CEO and Chairman of the Board of Xechem International, a publicly held Company located in New Brunswick, New Jersey. While at Xechem, Prof. Pandey was instrumental in the development of processes for the manufacture of Paclitaxel (an anticancer drug used for ovarian and breast cancers) and second generation Paclitaxel; establishing a line of nutraceuticals that were marketed through the company's XetaPharm subsidiary; and establishing offices in the UK, China, India and Nigeria. The Nigerian subsidiary, Xechem Pharmaceuticals Nigeria, Ltd., was established to manufacture and market NICOSAN(TM) a phytopharmaceutical for the treatment and management of Sickle Cell Disease (SCD), licensed from the National Institute of Pharmaceutical Research and Development (NIPRD) in Abuja, Nigeria. Dr. Pandey's current projects include his mission of bringing credibility and acceptability to Traditional Systems of Medicines (TMs) and Health to Western cultures and establishing and organizing a Multi-National Drug Discovery Team that will collaborate on developing prescription drugs from Traditional Medicines (TMs) for the treatment of Malaria and other neglected diseases.

Program Description:
AD-1 is an anti-diabetes drug that GDPAU has licensed from a scientist in Nigeria. Through the efforts of NIPRD and Jos University, the efficiency of AD-1 has been confirmed now GDPAU must continue those efforts to file for regulatory approval in Nigeria as well as other areas, specifically the US. We also need to work on commercial a scale production method so that the medicine can be produced with consistent results.<br />
