Mission Statement

The mission of the Pennsylvania Adult/Older Adult Suicide Prevention Coalition is to provide education and collaborate with the community to prevent suicide, reduce the stigma associated with suicide, and support those touched by suicide.

<div>  In 2011 our goals are to conduct two regional suicide prevention forums, a suicide prevention awareness event, two Assessing and Managing Suicide Risk trainings, and develop coalition website. </div> Additionally, the following programs will be implemented: QPR (Question Persuade Refer) suicide prevention training will be conducted by coalition members throughout the Commonwealth. <div>Distribute informational materials and NIMH brochures and information. </div>

This innovative training program, designated as a best practice, helps participants to recognize and respond to the warning signs of suicide.  Upon completion of training,   ·         Participants will overcome their fear and avoidance of the topic of suicide. ·         Participants will recognize the warning signs and risk factors of a suicidal person. ·         Participants will be empowered to engage persons who are displaying the warning signs and risk factors of suicide. ·         Participants will gain valuable knowledge about suicide prevention resources and learn where and how to access help when they identify a suicidal person.
