Environment
- Population Served:
-
Youth/Adolescents only (14 - 19 years)
Program Description:
ACE ASSEMBLY: Our interaction with high school students begins with our assembly. Trained ACE Educators deliver climate science that sticks through a multimedia assembly that utilizes animation, video, presentation customization, text messaging and storytelling. The ACE Assembly addresses state and national climate science standards. You can view a trailer of the in-person assembly online: acespace.org/get-inspired/trailer
Program Long-Term Success:
ACE knows it will take a generational shift to tackle global climate change and young people will bear the brunt of the consequences of unmitigated warming. We believe that young people have the passion, knowledge and commitment to the future to make a significant impact on lowering global emissions and helping to change our current trajectory.
Program Short-Term Success:

After viewing the ACE Assembly, students are inspired to take action.

Program Success Monitored by:

ACE measures its success through number of students engaged in projects as well as surveys of before/after science knowledge and levels of participation in our campaigns.

Program Success Examples:

Shreya Indukuri and Daniela Lapidous were freshmen at the Harker School in San Jose, CA, when they attended their first ACE Assembly. The ACE Assembly inspired them to think critically about their school’s energy footprint and how they could make a difference.

They kickstarted an ACE Action Team, applied for an ACE grant and got to work on school building energy efficiency retrofits. To date, they have saved their school thousands of dollars and founded their own nonprofit, SmartPowerEd, to help other schools save energy and money.

- Population Served:
-
Youth/Adolescents only (14 - 19 years)
Program Description:
After the ACE Assembly, students are eager to get involved and take action. We encourage all students who view our assemblies to choose a DOT (Do One Thing) to help the environment and cool the climate and text their DOT to our online mobile platform. Directly after the assembly, ACE Educators help establish and support student-led Action Teams that take on carbon-reducing projects at school. We support students’ efforts through in-person trainings, grants and scholarships. We also offer a robust online community that features videos from students around the country, Action Team project templates and contests. You can visit our community online: acespace.org/map
