Impact Summary from the Nonprofit
Impact Statement for Kids Against Hunger -Greenwood, Inc 2012, over 13,000 volunteers across the state of Indiana packaged 2.1 million meals with Kids Against Hunger -Greenwood. These meals were distributed to food shelves in their local communities and to starving children throughout the world. Our "rice-soy casserole", a combination of fortified soy, six dehydrated vegetables, flavoring containing twenty–one vitamins and minerals, and rice, is acceptable to all cultures around the world, easy to transport, store and prepare. It provides six servings of food that contains all the nutrients necessary to reverse the starvation process and restore a child to health- FOR ONLY 25¢ PER MEAL. The Kids Against Hunger meals are nutritionally superior to the rice and beans provided by many food aid organizations. Since the founding of Kids Against Hunger -Greenwood in December 2009, we have provided over 4,000,000 meals for hungry families. This could not have been possible without the help of 13,200 volunteers, who have ranged in age from 3 to 96. Kids Against Hunger -Greenwood supplies food pantries throughout Indiana with our highly nutritious food packs for distribution to families in Indiana. These meals have been enthusiastically received by a wide variety of ethnic groups, as the meal is easily blended with their favorite spices and locally grown vegetables. Through large food banks around the state, the distribution network exceeds 500 food pantries in Indiana. Our food is also distributed overseas, through a network of trusted partners who ensure delivery to those in need. In 2012 these countries included Haiti, Guatemala, Honduras, Ghana, Kenya, Niger, Sierra Leone, Zimbabwe and India. In addition to the tremendous benefits for the recipients of these meals, the hands-on activity during the packing events has been described by many volunteers as “life changing”. We are blessed to have the volunteers that help us, and in turn they are blessed by the opportunity to help others while working with multiple generations of their families.

Program Description:
This is our main program. We host packing events for organizations to pack our food and ship it to receiving partners. Our budget below is an example of a 30,000 meal event.
Program Long-Term Success:
End hunger and starvation amongst the worlds children.
Program Short-Term Success:
By helping to bring nutrition to remote corners of the world, we hope to allow children to grow up to become healthy and active members of their society. In turn, these children can learn and help their communities to become self-sufficient.
Program Success Monitored by:
Our program success is measured by NGO's and receiving agents mostly through anecdotal evidence, but also through tracking the health of the children receiving our food.
Program Success Examples:
We have numerous success stories of children in near death starvation being transformed in a period of a few months. Our food package speaks for itself in its ability to address multiple vitamin deficiencies.
