Impact Summary from the Nonprofit

Team Rubicon conducted field triage operations in Haiti for 18 consecutive days; utilized over 60 volunteers; coordinated as many as 4 simultaneous triage teams; and treated in excess of 3,000 critically wounded patients. In Chile, TR was the only US NGO providing field triage and medial reconnaissance for the Chilean military near epicenter coastal communities. TR deployed to Pakistan despite Taliban threats of attacks on foreign aid workers. TR treated upwards of 3,000 people for water-borne and chronic disease. In Sudan, TR's Dr. Glenn Geelhoed brokered a peace deal between warring tribes in exchange for crucial medical training and supplies. TR conducted up to ten surgical cases per day. During the April 2011 Alabama tornadoes, TR established a military-style operations center for rural Walker County. TR developed phase lines and a volunteer coordination schedule which was lacking prior to TR's arrival. TR was on the ground 14 hours after the May 2011 tornado that struck Joplin, MO, conducting search and rescue operations with local civil-military authorities. For over two years, TR has deployed medical teams to the Thai/Burma border, training over 125 Karen and Shan medics various trauma skills, empowering an underserved and displaced population. During Hurricane Irene in Sept 2011, TR mobilized five teams of veterans up and down the Eastern Seaboard; activating two teams to conduct debris clearing and community relief operations in Hollywood, MD and Grafton, VT.
