Mission Statement
The mission of the Family Justice Center of Georgetown County is to reduce the injuries and deaths resulting from family violence. We partner with local agencies to provide comprehensive, coordinated services to victims of family violence and their children, as well as educational programs for our community.

Whether you are planning to leave your abuser or have already left, a carefully laid out safety plan will help you be prepared in an emergency situation, and increase your chances of not being harmed during a violent episode. Program Description:
The FJC provides victims of Georgetown County safe refuge. Our emergency shelter addresses your crucial safe housing needs in the midst of your crisis. A case manager will help you identify the basic needs for your family. Goals will be established based on your individual circumstances with a primary focus on safety & self sustainability. The FJC shelter is staffed 24 hours and is equipped with a state of the art security system.

Program Description:
Our family violence advocates specialize in providing assistance to victims of family violence. They have an understanding of the criminal, civil and social service systems in our community. Advocates can also provide you practical and emotional support. They are efficient in crisis intervention. FJC advocates can explain what law-enforcement and courts can do for you and how they function in Georgetown County. They can help you navigate the system and process of pressing charges and/or obtaining an order of protection. Our Court advocates will help you complete the necessary paperwork to petition the Family Court for an order of protection and can accompany you in court.

Program Description:
CounselingThe FJC has a counselor on staff to help you in crisis situations as well as ongoing emotional healing from the trauma of domestic violence. If your situation requires outside counseling resources the FJC counselor will work with you to make the necessary referrals.Support GroupsThe FJC has a weekly Domestic Violence Support Group led by a licensed counselor, and is designed to help with the healing process from the emotional pains of domestic violence. In a peer setting, the group focuses on relational as well as interpersonal skills.Parenting ClassesThe FJC has a weekly parenting class that focuses on implementing and building positive parenting techniques.
