Mission Statement

Aid for Women is a not-for-profit organization established in 1978 to empower individuals to make choices consistent with the dignity of the human person and the family. We are the only life-affirming pregnancy center in Chicago’s downtown Loop with a second location in Berwyn. We give each client unconditional compassion while we discuss the development of her baby, abortion procedures and their risks, adoption possibilities, the benefits of abstinence until marriage, and a range of women’s health issues. Our message − of positive alternatives to abortion, the dignity and value of chastity, and the noble and sacred role of motherhood − is communicated to an ethnically diverse population of women drawn from all sections of the Chicago Metropolitan area.

Impact Summary from the Nonprofit

So many wonderful things are happening at Aid for Women. Phone calls and visits to our centers were up 30% in 2010! We continue to do great life-saving work at our new location in Berwyn. Our ability to offer free ultrasounds to our clients allows many women the opportunity to look through a “window to the womb,” so that they may see the life within. But perhaps, the best news is that Aid for Women is establishing a new maternity home that will open in May 2011. We look forward to expanding our services to women facing difficult pregnancies, and are encouraged by the support of the Chicago community with this new project.
