Mission Statement

The Ama Foundation was created to provide a home, family environment and education for the most underprivileged children of Nepal.  By providing a stable, loving environment, and exposing the children to opportunities that enhance their development, we improve each child's ability to become a productive and mindful citizen.

Impact Summary from the Nonprofit

<div>Accomplishments for Fiscal Year Ending December 31, 2011. <br /></div> <div>1. Completed construction of a new home in Godavari, 18 km from Kathmandu, that can support 75 children. The home is built using sustainability principles. We have solar power and recycled waste water and can support our home off the grid.</div> <div>2. Continued to support 46 children, including six new children that we took in during 2011.</div> <div>3. Provided scholarships to 75 children in the surrounding communities, which allowed them to live at home and attend school. <br />4. Seven of our older children are now enrolled in higher education, including one girl who is in her final year in medical school.</div> <div><br />Objectives for Fiscal Year Beginning January 1, 20121. </div> <div> </div> <div>1. To expand the Scholarship Program to allow more children to live at with their families and receive an education. <br />2. To find individual donors to support each child at Ama Ghar from their arrival through the highest level of education that they are capable of reaching. </div> <div>3. To find meaningful work for each of our new graduates so that they will be able to become productive Nepali citizens.</div>

We emphasize education, and we also stress how important it is for them to grow up within the Nepali culture, so that they grow up to be good Nepali citizens and help their country. We believe that peace in the world is built by giving love and an education to one child at a time.</div>
