Mission Statement
<p>"To provide a centralized statewide agency with auxiliary support services for deaf, hard-of-hearing, deaf-blind, late-deafened persons, including persons with hearing losses and those hearing persons with loss of voice, regardless of race, age, and gender such that they can be provided opportunities to succeed in areas of employment; education; housing; economics; and independence; and also be provided legal and fair judicial representation which are seldom provided. Such opportunities and legal rights are currently not obtainable or are being denied." </p>

<p>Information & Referral: </p> <p>* To provide information & referrals in the areas of education of deaf, hard-of-hearing and deaf-blind, assistive technology, literacy, interpreting services and employment. </p> <p>Consumer & Communication Access Advocacy: </p> <p>*To educate and promote full communication access by dissemination, training and workshops. </p> <p>Deaf-Blind Advocacy & Services: </p> <p>*To provide the listing of service support providers (SSP) to deaf-blind persons. </p> <p>*To provide training and workshops for anyone interested in becoming the SSP. </p><div>*To develop additional job position as Community Support Provider (CSP) to work with deaf-blind clients. <br /></div><div> </div><div>Accomplishments: </div> <p>This past year this organization had initiated needed services for the first time to deaf-blind persons by providing Service Support Providers (SSP) through Community Inclusion grant provided by the state agency, Board of Education Services for the Blind (BESB). <br /></p><div> </div><div>In addition, CAN had became Employer Network for US Department of Social Services - "Ticket-To-Work" Program, and has been in process of incorporating and developing this new program including job coach, resource specialist and employment specialist. <br /></div>
