Mission Statement
We are a nonprofit education/social action organization that brings together people of various faiths who believe that the world is one family. We believe that love, commitment to future generations, wise stewardship of the environment, and promotion of social, political, and economic justice are religious responsibilities.

<strong>Hunger</strong>: Hosted Washtenaw County CROP Hunger Walk, recruiting over 500 walkers to raise more than $57,000 for local and international hunger relief.<br />
<br />
<strong>Racial and Economic Justice</strong>: Hosted five welfare simulations to highlight the challenges families face in getting out of poverty as well as hosted multiple screenings of Unnatural Causes, which explores the interplay between health and racial and economic inequality. <br />
<br />
<strong>Latin America</strong>: Recruited over fifty activists of all ages and backgrounds to attend a vigil for human rights in Ft. Benning, Georgia. Hosted many speakers on justice issues in the Western Hemisphere. <br />
<br />
Israel/Palestine: Launched a series of "scriptural reasoning" events to create bonds of trust and understanding between area Jews, Muslims, and Christians. Co-sponsored the 2008 Morikawa Conference on Religion and Peacemaking to engage faith communities in promoting peace and coexistence in Israel/Palestine.<br />
<br />
Peacemaking: Organized two interfaith prayer services for peace in Iraq, bringing together Jewish, Muslim, Christian, Unitarian, Buddhist, and Hindu voices for peace. Organized banner hangings, workshops, and lobby visits for Torture Awareness Month in June, 2008. Placed op-eds and letters to the editor calling for negotiations to eliminate nuclear weapons.<br />

Program Description:
The Hunger Task Force organizes local individuals, community groups, and religious institutions to respond to the problems of hunger both in Washtenaw County and around the world.<br />
<br />
Our major event is the CROP Hunger Walk in which we recruit walkers to raise funds for local and global hunger relief agencies. We complement this direct relief work with community education on the causes of poverty and hunger and ways people can address these root issues<br />

Program Description:
Common Ground brings together people from various backgrounds affected by the Israeli/Palestinian conflict, including religious groups such as Jews, Muslims, and Christians as well as ethnic groups such as Israelis and Palestinians. <br />
<br />
To address the polarization and strife of the issue, Common Ground seeks to build understanding and identify shared values that will promote a peaceful resolution to the conflict.<br />
<br />
Common Ground's activities include interfaith explorations of non-political issues to create a safe space for sharing, hosting speakers to help residents expand their understanding of the conflict, and dialogue groups to create mutual understanding.<br />
