Program: World Services/Russia Healthy Life Style Project

Program Description:

The purpose of the project was to introduce and replicate the concept of a healthy life style through prevention and treatment of alcohol abuse in Zheleznogorsk and Seversk - two closed cities of Russia - by attracting an effective coalition of people to participate in the project, helping city project organizers and specialists gain new skills, and developing strong relationships between the two cities.

Program Long-Term Success:

Primary Care Physicians were trained in assessment and referral protocols. Health Education Curriculum for students and employees were developed and implemented. Community leadership sanctioned the programs for replication.
