<p ><strong><u>Parent groups</u></strong>. Break Through has made it its goal to be in touch with
parents. Our CEO Ben Anderson’s first visit was with a parent Kansas City. From that conversation it went
into his involvement with parent groups throughout the United States. Ben
felt that to understand families with
disabilities would be his format to be able to educate the general public. He
encourages families to be advocates and to be positive for their child with one
of his presentations-“Going Beyond Expectations”.</p>

touches everyone from teachers, providers to parents and individuals who live
disabilities themselves. Ben is able to address questions and issues with both
compassion and a depth of insight that only someone who experiences life with a
disability can. That can be invaluable information to a parent or provider who
have children who can’t express how they feel. Insight, caring, compassion and
honesty – Ben D. Anderson is your guy! Finally, someone who can really help you
reflect on some of life’s great mysteries and leave you feeling like you are on
the right track."--Jennifer Newhouse -Parent to Parent Coordinator<br />

<p>"We thoroughly enjoyed your presentation, Ben, here at Lockheed Martin this
afternoon. The Diversity Council of Lockheed Martin Tactical Systems in Eagan, MN,
of which I am the Chairman, really wanted a dynamic and interesting keynote
speaker to help us kick-off October Disability Awareness Month, and you
certainly filled the bill. Your ability to lighten the audience with your
self-deprecating humor and insights on seeing the workplace from the eyes of
someone with a disability allowed the audience to really grasp some of the main
issues people with disabilities deal with on a daily basis and to empathize
with them. I feel it was very worthwhile for our employees to be able to ask
questions of you directly and to appreciate your perspective of living in a
world and workplace of varying levels of accommodations. Your discussions
opened many eyes and I m sure will go far in changing the attitudes of many of
our employees toward those co-workers with disabilities. Thanks so much for
adding so positively to our working environment! You re doing a great service
for all of us." ----Gary Moore -Chairman, Lockheed Martin Tactical Systems Diversity Council, Eagan, MN

Ben's presentation helps students to learn to respond
constructively to such challenges and to come away with a more positive
attitude toward each other. He also helps those who have been struggling with
their disability to feel more effective and hopeful. In a creative, sometimes
humorous, highly anecdotal presentation, Ben describes what life is like for a
student growing up with cerebral palsy. He discusses where he found his
strength and hope, gives tips on how to relate effectively to a person with a
disability, and teaches us all that we must "Never Give Up!"

problems within the system your perspective was invaluable. I found the information regarding the stress

“Dear Mr. Anderson: Our two daughters just got
home from summer camp … Our oldest (who is 12) had learned a new word
during her week away at camp - "disability." It's not that she was
unfamiliar with the term, of course, but more that she'd never given it much
thought. We have a close friend confined to a wheelchair, but as is the
nature of children, our daughter always just sort of "accepted" the
fact that our friend can't walk, and never looked further. But then she heard
you speak at camp, and was deeply impressed by whatever it was you said.
She's been talking about you ever since. Your topic was reinforced by the
fact that her camp counselor uses a walker despite her young age. Our
daughter came home with a much more mature understanding of human nature and
the ability to see limitations as gifts and opportunities..I don't know what
specifically you talked about but I thank you very much for speaking. You
certainly made a lasting impression on our pre-teen! Best wishes, Patrice L</p>
