Mission Statement
The Mid-Atlantic Regional Air Management Association works to strengthen the skills and capabilities of our member agencies and help them work together to prevent and reduce air pollution impacts in the Mid-Atlantic Region of the U.S.

Profile:
Susan Wierman has worked in air pollution control since 1977, serving three years with the Minnesota Pollution Control Agency and fifteen years with Maryland’s Department of the Environment, including eight years as Deputy Director of Maryland’s air quality program. She holds a B.A. (cum laude) and Masters in Urban Planning from the University of Washington. She also earned a Certificate in Continuing Engineering Studies from the Johns Hopkins University. Susan is a Fellow member of the Air and Waste Management Association (AWMA), an international professional association. She is a member of the Editorial Advisory Committee for AWMA’s <em>EM</em> Magazine and is a former AWMA Vice President and Board Member as well as a former officer of AWMA's South Atlantic States Section. Susan serves on the Steering Committee of the Mid-Atlantic Diesel Collaborative, and she represented MARAMA on the Executive Steering Committee of NARSTO, an international collaborative effort to improve air quality management in North America. She also serves on the Policy Committee of the Northeast/Mid-Atlantic/Northeast Visibility Union (MANE-VU), an association of states and tribes collaborating to improve visibility in national parks and major wilderness areas. Susan is a member of the American Society of Association Executives and the Phi Beta Kappa society, and she is active in the American Association of University Women.
