Mission Statement

The Ronald McDonald House was opened in 1983 to serve as a home-away-from-home for families of seriously ill or injured children who are receiving medical treatment in the Columbia area. Since opening our doors, we have provided our services to more than 25,000 families from all over Missouri, the United States and the world.

Every year, RMHC of Mid-Missouri hosts hundreds of families seeking medical care at local facilities for their children. In 2011, we hosted 361 families who stayed a total of 2,165 days. The average length of stay for these families is 6 days. Without the Ronald McDonald House, these families would have to resort to sleeping in their cars, in hospital waiting rooms, or pay for a hotel room.

Program Description:

The Ronald McDonald House serves as a home-away-from home for families while they are seeking medical treatment for their ill or injured children at local medical facilities. Our House has 14 private bedrooms and numerous amenities to help ease the financial burden of these families. Families who reside outside of Boone County and who have children under the age of 21 who are being treated at local medical facilities are welcome to stay. We ask a small donation of $15 per night from each family but no one is ever turned away due to the inability to contribute.<br />
