Impact Summary from the Nonprofit

In North Minneapolis, about 5% of churches (about 1 in 20) have a fulltime youth worker. Yet most of the problems in the community stem from youth issues. We want to encourage troughs that are in youth work to stay there and encourage a value of youth work in the urban church. We do so by hosting events for leaders on a rotating quarterly bases. The first month of the Quarter a Half day Saturday training. January, April, July, October The second month of the Quarter a full day Saturday training. Feb., May, Aug., Nov. The third month of the quarter will be a large combined outreach activity. (The June outreach will be a camp weekend or week) March, June, Sep., Dec.

Leadership
Rev Ronald McConico
Profile:
I am an indigenous youth worker from North Minneapolis. My father died when I was six, leaving my mother with three sons and a daughter and no income in the heart of the city. At the age of 8 I asked Jesus to be my Savior at an after school church program. I was discipled by an inner city para-church ministry, Hospitality House. During my later teen years, I strayed from the Lord and got involved in drugs, drinking and girls until my former youth worker confronted me about my double life. I then rededicated my life to the Lord. I was led back to Hospitality House to work with kids in the same neighborhood I grew up in. While there I made a life time commitment to Youth Ministry. I have now been in youth ministry for over 30 years. God has given me some very clear insights as to the needs of our urban community and the youth that occupy them. Ron is the founding Executive Director of Youth Resources and Burning Bush Creation and has entered into a partnership with Tent Makers to bring relevant training to the urban volunteer and youth worker. Ron is the husband of one Wife of 30 years, Rebecca McConico, and father of 4 grown children, 2 daughters-in-law, & 2 grandchildren
Leadership Statement:
Youth workers are being energized by the instructors of our Urban Youth Worker Training Cooperative. They are developing new relationships and becoming better at there job because of it.
