- Population Served:

General Public/Unspecified
Program Description:

Pennsylvania Performing Arts on Tour (PennPAT) provides grants to mid-Atlantic region and Ohio organizations that are presenting pre-qualified Pennsylvania performing artists and groups. The program also provides strategic opportunity grants to roster artists for engagements outside of the United States. The program is artist focused and provides marketing support, training and technical assistance related to improving touring capability for pre-qualified Pennsylvania artists, and tour-related workshops for all performing artists.

Program Long-Term Success:
PennPAT was last evaluated in 2006 and showed very positive results. The outside evaluation team found that PennPAT had grown and matured since its inception by expanding its geographic reach and taking on additional support activities. The team found that the longer artists on our the roster, the more their touring engagements increase (both supported by PennPAT and overall) and that with each evaluation, the percentage of roster artists stating that they have greater financial stability has increased. Presenters reported engaging PennPAT artists new to their respective communities 75% of the time and 90% of respondents agreed that an artist's presence on the PennPAT roster is influential on booking choices.
Program Short-Term Success:
In 2008, PennPAT supported an all time high of 228 touring engagements with $663,000. This generated estimated roster artist fees of $1.5 million. In addition, a high of approximately $185,000 per year was awarded to roster artists directly for marketing and tour management projects and materials, and for roster artist travel for overseas engagements, showcases and the retreat.
