John Marks is President and founder of Search for Common Ground, an international conflict prevention NGO headquartered in Washington and Brussels, with offices in 24 countries. He also founded and heads Common Ground Productions, which produces radio and television programming around the world to help prevent and transform conflict. He wrote and produced The Shape of the Future series of TV documentaries, which was aired simultaneously on Israeli, Palestinian, and Arab satellite television - something that had never been done before. He is a best-selling, award-winning author and in 2006 was awarded a Skoll Fellowship for Social Entrepreneurship.

Program Description:
Search for Common Ground is an international non-governmental organization working to transform the way that people deal with conflict: away from adversarial approaches and toward cooperative solutions. SFCG works in Angola, Burundi, Cote d'Ivoire, DR Congo, Guinea, Indonesia, Iran, Jerusalem, Kenya, Kosovo, Lebanon, Liberia, Macedonia, Morocco, Nepal, Nigeria, Pakistan, Rwanda, Sierra Leone, Sri Lanka, Sudan, Tanzania, Timor-Leste, Syria, Ukraine, Yemen, Zimbabwe and the United States. The SFCG "toolbox" includes mediation/ facilitation, track two diplomacy, training, radio/TV production, journalism, sports, drama, and music. For more detail see our Web site http://www.sfcg.org.
Program Long-Term Success:
In 2008, pre-production began on an ambitious multi-country project aimed at promoting good governance via a series of football-themed radio and television dramas in at least 10 countries around the world.
