<div>In 2011 Hand Papermaking celebrated its 25th anniversary year, full of creative energy and extraordinary activities. A special issue of our magazine focused on the surprising, wondrous, and astonishing nature of handmade paper. The amazing pop-ups in our ninth portfolio raised eyebrows in varied venues throughout the year. Twenty-five noted papermakers, one selected from each year of our magazine, contributed paper samples for a commemorative book. And a rare assembly of leaders convened at a weekend retreat to imagine the future of Hand Papermaking in the field in general and our organization in particular. </div> <div><br /> </div> <div>In 2012 we will reach another milestone, publishing the 100th issue of Hand Papermaking Newsletter. Fresh energy is infusing the Hand Papermaking Artist Registry, which began as a slide library in 1988, and is now a free online resource. In addition, the tenth portfolio in our limited-edition series will be released, with the provocative title 'Handmade Paper: Fiber Exposed!'</div> <div><br /> </div>

Leadership Statement:

I am proud and privileged to manage Hand Papermaking and honored to have worked during my tenure with such a remarkable community of paper aficionados. My ongoing task is to provide the leadership and inspiration required for Hand Papermaking to fulfill its mission, assuring that day-to-day operations run smoothly, while working toward long-term goals. As economic realities and major changes in the publishing industry have required an increase in our fundraising efforts, it is heartwarming that so many long-time friends continue to provide financial and moral support. I thank each and every one.
