<div>Mission: To sustain and grow African-American theater by producing new and traditional art forms that contributes to the understanding and appreciation of the African-American culture; with a vision to be the preeminent forum for African-American theatre in the greater Washington, DC community. </div>

<div align="left">African Continuum Theater has a very important role in the community—locally, as well as nationally and internationally because it gives voice, respect, understanding and honor to under-served populations.</div>
<p align="left">African Continuum truly believes in the ability of live theatre to nurture, heal, and build bridges between communities. Our primary target population is comprised of the whole of the city of Washington, DC, and the surrounding metropolitan areas of Maryland and Virginia. This includes the considerable theatre going population from the J.F. Kennedy Center patrons to residents within a two-mile radius of our performance home at the Atlas Performing Arts Center in NE Washington, D.C. </p>
<p align="left">African Continuum Theatre is committed to providing consistent new and traditional main-stage productions and community engagement programs.</p>
<p align="left">African Continuum has garnered recognition for its artistic endeavors and local leadership from the Cultural Alliance of Greater Washington and other agencies, including 16 Helen Hayes Awards nominations, 3 Helen Hayes Awards, the Washington Post Award for Distinguished Service to the Community, and a Mayor’s Arts Award.</p>
<p align="left">A broad array of local and national funders recognize its value as one of the few professional African-American theatre companies in the country And has developed a strong cadre of local supporters and stakeholders, many of whom can trace their commitment back to the organization’s inception.</p>
