<div> </div>
<div>While we don't spend much money (we own our supplies and the space is donated) we each invest hours into setup, cleanup and transportation of the animals. It is a full 10 hours day work for each volunteer with plenty of followup.<br />

Program Long-Term Success:
We have adopted out nearly one thousand animals since the program began. We have saved animals from abuse, death from illness and also served the population helping the elderly or newly homeless find homes for animals they can no longer care for.
Program Short-Term Success:
We save animals lives and find homes that bring joy back to their lives.
Program Success Monitored by:
Animals placed in successful homes.
Program Success Examples:
If you visit our facebook page you will see countless comments from families who have adopted pets from us, some of them adopted years ago and still post updates. One of the few advantages of being a small grassroots organization is that we have personal relationships with the people we've adopted to and continue to support each other.
Program:
Feral Cat Colonies
- Budget:
-
$2,500
- Category:
-
Animal-Related
- Population Served:
-
Other Named Groups
Program Description:
Because population control through spay/neutering is a large part of what we do we care for two large Feral Cat colonies in the Los Angeles area.
Program Long-Term Success:
Caring for the colonies does not just include feeding the cats. We've spent years trapping each cat, spaying/neutering them to control the population. Vaccinating them against FeLV. Our ultimate goal is to find homes for docile cats and feed/medicate the feral cats for their lifetime. If we are diligent eventually the colonies will dwindle to nothing.
Program Short-Term Success:
All of the cats in both colonies have been trapped, spayed/neutered and vaccinated. Kittens that were not feral have been adopted out. Feral cats were re-released but are cared for and fed by volunteers twice daily.
Program Success Monitored by:
We have reduced the population of each colony by approximately 30%, have controlled the spread of FeLV in both communities.
Program Success Examples:
We visit the colony twice daily and see no kittens (great sign of population control) and no illness.
