Impact Summary from the Nonprofit
Mission driven, Adventure Science Center (ASC) provides interactive education in various forms. The Center features unique, live demonstrations and lab programs for students to complement what they learn through the exhibits. These interactions enhance the educational experience by addressing the state curriculum. Planetarium programs pique interest in air and space exploration; summer and holiday camps provide fun, educational alternatives to childcare when school is not in session; and school outreach and distance learning programs engage students and teachers who are unable to visit the Center. Accomplishments of FY2011: * Reached an overall attendance of 314,088 visitors annually, an increase of 12% from the previous year; * Provided Memberships to more than 5,000 member households, producing more than $430,000 in vital operating revenue; * Reached nearly 78,000 school children with on-and-off site programs; * Trained educators at teacher professional development workshops to teach the curriculum; * Grew ASC's reputation as a key community asset for economic development and tourism.
