Impact Summary from the Nonprofit
<p>Meridian primarily focuses on children and youth and extends into
families to help improve the communities we serve. All of our programs share a
common aim ~to build capacity in individuals and groups, rather than creating
dependencies through the delivery of services. </p>
<p>Meridian collaborates with many organizations including the
United Nations Foundation, Full Circle Learning, Traveling Postcards,
JP/Haitian Relief Organization, and the YWCA. Recent successes include:</p>
<p>1. Post
Trauma Stress– Our PTS programs using storytelling and the arts served 80 girls
in Haiti this summer, 40 girls in Marin, and we are replicating them in other
international sites and in Marin and the Bay Area.</p>
<p>2. Curricula–
Training of mentors and educators for the implementation of curricula like "Climate
Change Agents," "Habits of Heroes," and "Girls United."</p>
<p>3. Neighborhoods-
Youth empowerment workshops and mentoring programs in the Bay Area are
organized in community centers, parks and homes.</p>
<p>4. Domes-
Maintaining 12 hospital domes in Haiti where Cholera wards have saved 5,000
lives and Tuberculosis wards have saved 2,000 so far. </p>
