Leadership
Mr. Jerome Washington
Term:
Since
June
2002
Profile:
Having had the opportunity to travel around the world, it baffled Jerome to return to the United States and see people, in one of the worlds most powerful countries, suffer from hunger, joblessness, homelessness, and poverty. It seemed to him that in other parts of the world where there was hunger - there was a drive or motivation to do better. This drive seemed to be lacking in the United States. Jerome observed that some individuals seemed content with receiving assistance, and for some, this dependency was a tradition has passed from generation to generation. It almost seemed, among some individuals, that hard work is not an ethic one should aspire to. his realization marked the conception of Help Me Help You. Feed, motivate and transition. It is Mr. Washington's desire, to do more than provide housing assistance and services, but also to transform lives. The services of Help Me Help You begin with the basics, such as food programs and rental assistance. But it does not stop there, after one gets on their feet and is provided with the basics, job-training services are available, enabling individuals and families to gain stability. The organization also provides job services. Job stability leads to the ability to advance one's self and move to home ownershibuilding lives, this is what we do.'
