Program Description:
Each year the Association and Museum offer cash scholarships and tuition grants to Oklahoma high school students through the Oklahoma Heritage Scholarship Competition, the Nichols Scholarship and Oklahoma Hall of Fame Scholarship. In 2013, over $4,000,000 will be available to high school students across the state of Oklahoma.
Program Long-Term Success:
Because the scholarship criteria is based on Oklahoma's history and heritage, students have a greater sense of pride which provides for greater success. The majority of scholarship recipients remain in Oklahoma after obtaining their degrees; choosing to become an active member of the community and raise their families here.
Program Short-Term Success:
Short term the scholarship program provides high school students with much-needed funds to continue their education.
Program Success Monitored by:
Test scores determine distribution of scholarships and strong relationships between the Association and scholarship alumni are formed to ensure continued contact and involvement of the recipients.

Program Description:
With over 160 publications, the Association is the leader in publishing Oklahoma's history. Many of the titles are distributed free to senior high school libraries to enhance their Oklahoma history sections.
Program Long-Term Success:
The need in preserving a state's history, specifically the contributions of its native sons and daughters, is great. The publications program is documenting forever Oklahoma's contributions, providing research materials for future generations of Oklahoma historians, scholars, and its people. Copies of most titles are placed in senior high school libraries statewide on a gratis basis to expand the resources available to students.
Program Short-Term Success:
With each publication the Association contributes to the sense of pride and celebration of being an Oklahoman that immediately strengthens the sense of community while providing a tangible resource for future generations.
Program Success Monitored by:
Through the demand for titles by the general public and educational institutions, as well as the numerous notes of gratitude from educators throughout Oklahoma for this contribution to our history, the Association and Museum are able to gauge the need and its fulfillment.

Program Description:
The Gaylord-Pickens Oklahoma Heritage Museum offers free field trips for over 1,000 students each school year thanks to the generosity of sponsors like the Association's Teen Board, Oklahoma Walmart Stores, Williams Foundation and the Choctaw Nation. The spaces are available to any school in Oklahoma. In addition to free admission, teachers may choose between receiving free lunch for each of the students OR a post-visit check to help with transportation costs, in the amount of $4 per student.

As school budgets are being cut, Oklahoma students can enjoy a fun, educational field trip at no cost to the school.
