Profile:
Michelle Shonbeck, Executive Director, started at CCSC as a volunteer while working in corporate human resources. She became the Executive Director in 1995 and applies her business background and personal spirituality to CCSC's mission. She envisions CCSC as a place where volunteers and staff can come and live their faith by serving the community's needy. Michelle is active in the chamber of commerce and many other organizations that help further CCSC's mission.
Leadership Statement:
CCSC is a community ministry that provides essential services within a defined geographic area in Houston. The "CCSC community" is broad and is comprised of churches, civic organizations, corporations, Scout troops, adn a multitude of individuals and other groups. by working together, the agency is able to leverage the unique strengths of each group/individual strengthen CCSC's mission. The agency has a lean staff and a large workforce of volunteers which keeps staff costs low in proportion to the amount spent on direct services.
The agency's leadership feels strongly about applying fundamental business principles to the accomplishment of CCSC's mission. This results in a unique organizational culture that is highly relationship-based within a strong business climate. This culture is central to the agency's strength and a sturdy foundation for the programs to then flourish.

<p>Emergency Services, the heart and soul of CCSC, meets people's most basic needs. In addition to furnishing food and clothing, volunteers also provide emergency payment for rent and utilities, prescription assistance and referrals to other nonprofit agencies. CCSC serves all clients in a confidential, respectful manner.</p>
