Program Description:
CAMP TYLER'S MISSION IS TO PROVIDE PREMIER OUTDOOR LEARNING OPPORTUNITIES FOR CHILDREN.
Program Long-Term Success:
<div>Our ultimate goal is to improve the community's attitude to the importance of the natural world and life outdoors, leading toward an active involvement in sustainable living.</div>
Program Short-Term Success:
<div>To provide children with meaningful outdoor experiences, and engage them in real world experiences to for a foundation for further learning.</div>
Program Success Monitored by:
<div>Written evaluations from group leaders and educators who bring children to Camp Tyler. Pre and post tests given to students. Observations of student involvement in activities. Interviews with school principals. Informal communications with the community at large regarding their memories of their experience at Camp Tyler.</div>
Program Success Examples:
<div>The program has been in operation for more than 60 years, serving over half a million youth. In many cases we have served three generations from the same family. Everyone in Tyler loves Camp Tyler and we still enjoy a high level of community support to maintain the program. Every week we see the child who was not performing well in ghe classroom and hear form the teacher who observed that child finally making a connection. It is always exciting to see how the children change in their short visit to the camp.</div>
