Mission Statement
The Urban Farm program started as Embracing Horses with its sole purpose to get inner city youth-at-risk involved in an after school activity of equestrian riding and taking care of horses. Since its inception in 1993, The Farm has expanded to teaching Colorado standards in literacy, math and science to pre-school through senior in high school levels using the interactivity of working with the farm animals and garden. The Farm is home to a 15,000 square foot garden, and numerous farm animals including horses, chickens, pigs, cows, sheep and goats. The Farm also has one of the largest 4H clubs in Colorado. This is of particular note because traditional agricultural 4H is generally not available to urban youth. The Farm's 4H program has been a pilot for the state of Colorado and for 4H programs across the country.
