<p>Our goal is to provide people with the skills and opportunities they need to lift themselves and their families out of poverty. </p>
<p>Our vision is that the Latino community participate fully in the economy and democracy of this country. </p>

Impact Summary from the Nonprofit
<div>As a result of CASA Latina’s work in 2008 and 2009: </div>
<ul><li>Assisted more than 150 immigrants to secure more permanent jobs and increased the economic stability of hundreds of immigrants, connecting them to employment opportunities.</li><li>Increased the average wage of work dispatched through our Center from $13.11 an hour in 2007 to $14.43 an hour in 2009.</li><li>Increased the economic stability of over 70 immigrant women through our Household Helpers Program, referring 1,043 jobs referred to unemployed immigrant women, and resulting in 27% of participants turning at least three of those referrals into regular housecleaning customers.</li><li>Recovered $147,000 in unpaid wages for immigrant workers who have not been paid by their employers.</li><li>Increased the English language level of almost 100 immigrant adults so that they can communicate more effectively with employers and neighbors.</li><li>Helped pass King County ordinance 2009-0393 which codifies current Sheriff policies that prohibit deputies from initiating any inquiry or enforcement action based solely on an individual's immigration status, race, or native language.</li><li>In 2009, we completed the first phase of our capital campaign and moved into our new offices. Our new home has become a symbol of opportunity, dignity and community for Latinos, and for all families, in our region. </li></ul>

Program Description:
<h3>We offer free training to help immigrant families achieve their economic goals.</h3>
<p>
Our award-winning ESL program has been operating since 1994 and has
successfully taught English to hundreds of immigrants. Program
participants learn essential communication skills that are key to
obtaining long-term employment and becoming wholly self-sufficient. <br />
</p>
<p>
Every Tuesday morning, informational workshops are held in Spanish at
the Day Workers' Center to help workers adapt to and understand better
their community and their rights in this country. Workshop topics are
often suggested by the participants and include issues surrounding
health and preventative care, workers’ rights, civil rights and
discrimination, tax preparation, work safety, and more.

Program Description:
<h3>We give Latina immigrant women the means and opportunities to lift themselves and their families out of poverty.</h3>
<p>
Our Household Helpers Project, which began in 2007, helps women gain
and retain jobs to achive economic stability, while empowering them to
increase skills and build relationships for future employment
opportunities. The program includes financial literacy and
English-language training programs, as well as weekly meetings during
which women discuss job challenges and work on alternative strategies
for gaining more control over their work environment.</p>
<p>Through the Household Helpers Project, women build skills in order
to move from dependence on the program to place them in domestic jobs
to the ability to build relationships with customers and seek out their
own jobs. </p>
