(WID) currently focuses on the following key areas: Center on Economic Growth (CEG) programs work to increase the
employment rate and the numbers of persons with disabilities who look for,
find, and retain employment and advance in their careers. CEG programs develop
public policy recommendations and advocate for the development and implementation

access to full employment and to build assets; offer online tools and
information services for managing health coverage, benefits and finances for
persons with disabilities seeking employment, changing jobs or advancing in
their careers; work with small and medium sized businesses to hire employees
with disabilities; provide outreach, information and resources and challenging
internship opportunities to students and young adults with disabilities; provide
training and TA to asset-building organizations to include consumers with
disabilities in their programs, to disability organizations about available
programs, and provide information to individuals with disabilities on how to
participate in poverty reduction programs via a toll-free hotline; and publish
the quarterly Equity newsletter. Access
to Health Care programs work to increase the number of persons with
disabilities who have access to quality health care and the resources and
capacity to manage their health coverage; reduce disparities and barriers by
developing recommendations to improve laws, policies, programs and services at
state and national governmental and institutional levels; identify best
practices in treating people with disabilities and educate doctors and
providers to increase awareness, competence and access to facilities,
information and services; offer self-training packages on self advocacy for
accessible services; and provide online tools and information services for
managing health coverage, benefits and finances to maintain government provided
health care eligibility and access to programs and services. WID’s International Development and Disability
Rights Program helps disabled persons organizations (DPOs) and

programs and services that promote the full inclusion of persons with
disabilities in all aspects of their societies. WID is currently setting up a
