Impact Summary from the Nonprofit

In 2011 the Access Fund celebrated its 20th anniversary and we also made some important advances to increase local support. We launched the Access Fund- Jeep Conservation team where two expert trail specialists will travel the country to help maintain climbing areas. They will assess conservation needs, work with Local Climbing Organizations (LCOs) and land managers to address those needs, and provide training on planning and stewardship best practices to keep those areas healthy. We also launched a joint membership program with LCOs, enabling them to spend more time conserving and improving access to local climbing resources and less time doing administrative and back-end tasks. In 2012 we opened our first regional office in Chattanooga, TN and one of our top goals for the year is to expand our joint membership program, making it easier for LCOs to focus on local issues and giving climbers the opportunity to support both local and national access work with one membership.
