<div>We own and operate the Born Free USA Primate Sanctuary located on 186 acres in southwest Texas. The Sanctuary is home to more than 500 monkeys — vervets, macaques, and baboons — most of whom have been rescued from grim conditions in research laboratories, roadside zoos, and private possession as "pets." We provide them with an enriched environment as close to the wild as possible and with minimal human interference.</div> <div> </div> <div >Nonhuman primates are intelligent animals with complex behavioral and social needs. Yet almost all rescued primates arrive at our Sanctuary having been deprived of the opportunity to meet these needs. Many have never had contact with other nonhuman primates; never had a proper, nutritious diet; and never had ample space to roam, climb, play, and <em >just be monkeys</em>. </div> <div ><br />  </div> <div> </div> <div> </div>
