Impact Summary from the Nonprofit

PAL has a voucher program to assist the public with the cost of having their pets spayed or neutered. This program aims to save lives by reducing the number of unwanted animals being born only to be killed in shelters or left to uncertain fates due to the lack of good homes. We believe that the spaying and neutering of all companion animals will save countless lives.
PAL has been priviledged to start a Humane Education Program in the Juvenile Detention Center located in Apple Valley, CA. This program uses education and therapy dogs to rehab the minors in this facility.

Donna Shawver

Profile:

Donna Shawver started her career as a systems analyst in 1987 and in 2000 left the corporate world to work with animals. Volunteering at local prisons where dogs are trained to become Service dogs she quickly learned to train and place these wonderful dogs with the disabled. A life changing event occurred in 2008 when Donna was given the opportunity to assist with Sr. Pauline Quinn, a Dominican nun who started the prison dog program in 1981, with her mission. Donna's passion and commitment to helping animals and humans find their place in the world is unstoppable. “Bringing corporate business sensibility and my love for animals to PAL I believe we can do great things!”

Leadership Statement:
PAL has become a hub for the community with our service programs. PAL programs include our Pet Connection for seniors 65 and over that are on a fixed income. We help them with pet food and medical care for their pets. Our B.A.R.K. Program is the first of its kind in education for minors and has been honored with an award from the Juvenile Justice and Delinquency Prevention Commission of San Bernardino County. PAL also assists the community with the cost of spaying and neutering their pets with a voucher program. The valley's animals are our first concern, the reason for starting PAL in 1993.
