Program Description:

THE WORK OF DEVELOPING PASTORS & CHURCH LEADERS Asian Access' work of leadership training has been recognized as one of the most creative and fruitful leadership training programs in Asia. The key to its effectiveness is the careful selection of 12-20 emerging leaders. These leaders are then invited to be a part of a class that meets four times a year for a week at a time over a two-year period. When the twelve meet together, they are working through an established curriculum that accelerates their growth as spiritual leaders, as well as organizational leaders. At their training sessions, they are resourced by leaders in and outside their country. In the course of the training, the leaders are able to become more aware of their distinct strengths individually, as well as the unique giftedness of their congregations. They are also given the skills to determine more precisely the needs of the communities and the context in which they live and minister. Upon that knowledge, they then develop skills to equip their congregation for effective service. Following that they articulate their long-term vision and then begin to develop strategies for growth and multiplication. The training program in Japan, for example, now uses a curriculum that has been developed entirely by Japanese, for Japanese, in Japanese. Each country is working on contextualizing the curriculum and the process for developing its own pastors.

Program Long-Term Success:

What do we want to see as the result of our work in the life and ministry of each participant? Asian Access seeks the following outcomes of our work in the life and ministry of every participant. We feel we're successful if the pastor is... 1.) Living in a love relationship with God. 2.) Growing as a Christ-like leader. 3.) Reproducing disciple-making leaders. 4.) Planting multiplying churches. These four outcomes can actually result from specific steps Asian Access takes. In other words, there are practical things we can do in structuring our program in order to help achieve these outcomes.

Program Short-Term Success:

The short term success is initially measured by the participants completing all eight (8) weeklong leader development sessions, including homework assignments and practical application assignments. One such assignment is required for graduation. Each participant must submit a strategy paper outlining his/her key lessons from the program, as well as strategic plans for the future. Other short-term gains are considered successful if the leader's life begins to show signs of transformation in his/her personal life, family, church and community.

Program Success Monitored by:

Success is monitored on the local, national and international level. Monitoring is conducted by the national director in each country, the working team of alumni in each training region, and if existing the national board of director and/or council of reference. On a larger scale, Asian Access staff oversee monitoring and measuring of success, and ultimately its international Board of Directors is responsible.

Impact Summary from the Nonprofit Additional Information A Charting Impact Report consists of an organization’s responses to the five questions. Helping validate this self-reported data are three reviews. Once an organization has used the online interface to complete its report, its responses will produce a document with a unique URL that will be shared on this website, on your GuideStar profile, on the reports of charities participating in BBB Wise Giving Alliance evaluations, and – in the future – with other websites and information sources about nonprofits. We encourage organizations to use this URL to share their report on their own website and through their own media channels. Participants will receive guidance about promoting their Charting Impact Report, along with other benefits, once they publish their report.

Today, we're focused on training key leaders to lead the church with vision, character and competence. As we invest heavily in a small group of key pastors who influence their nation, God uses these leaders to impact their nation.
