The Best of Mt Shasta
Mount Shasta is a unique place in California Far North. It has become a mecca every year for thousands of spiritual seekers throughout the world looking for direction and connection. Most of them say they were “called” to Mount Shasta.
Extraordinary experiences are common place in this remarkable place. The people who live in the Mt Shasta area are especially fortunate to explore these possibilities every day, enabling them to be on the forefront of leading edge knowledge in their fields of expertise.
The Best of Mt Shasta became a project of Hayehwatha Institute in 2007 to give exposure to the local Spiritual Community in the areas of Native Healing, Spirit & Spirituality (Self Discovery), Alternative Health & Wellness and Our Environment (Nature Speaks). Each summer, until 2019, we held a conference and festival of 35-60 local area presenters, along with an outdoor festival of over 50 vendors and three days of music and celebration. Through these events our intent is to improve the economic development of this group, as Mt Shasta and Siskiyou County are among the poorest cities/counties in the State of California.
Now we are focusing on presenting The Best of Mt Shasta online with interviews, webinars, workshops, and courses that will be promoted on this website as well as through other forms of social media. This way more of our international and national friends will be able to connect and participate with the Mount Shasta community. Today we can be found on Facebook at https://facebook.com/thebestofmtshasta, where we list the upcoming events for Mt Shasta and within Siskiyou County. Our website is at https://thebestofmtshasta.com. It is presently under further development to off the online activities.
Our target population served includes all gender and sexual identity, age groups from high school to seniors, all social and economic status, all ethnic and racial groups, all areas of health, all religious groups, all work statuses and occupations.

THE WORLD-WIDE PANDEMIC
"We are facing a global health crisis unlike any in the 75-year history of the United Nations — one that is killing people, spreading human suffering, and upending people’s lives. But this is much more than a health crisis. It is a human, economic and social crisis. The coronavirus disease (COVID-19), which has been characterized as a pandemic by the World Health Organization (WHO), is attacking societies at their core."

IMPORTANCE OF MEDITATION
Meditation is so important these days, for every imaginable reason. During COVID-9 Hayehwatha Institute is offering online meditations as an individual class or group class. The group classes with friends are especially helpful as a support group to maintain one's daily practice. All the classes presently are given in English.
BASIC & INTERMEDIATE MEDITATIONS
Hayehwatha Institute offers two types of classes: Basic and Intermediate. The basic class is for those who have never meditated, meditated and then stopped, had difficulty meditating; whether it was the technique, trying to concentrate, too busy to meditation, fell asleep in meditation, etc. The Institute recommends at least 2-3 classes in the basic meditation. The Intermediate class offers the basic meditation with further discussion to understand the importance of daily practice and the long range benefits of the practice
MEDITATION TEACHER
Presently, the meditation classes are given by Andrée Morgana, Founder of Hayehwatha Institute. She has been a Meditation Teacher for over 50 years, teaching thousands to meditate, and has seen a lot of situations, questions, and more that can arise during the practice.
TARGET POPULATION
Our target population includes all gender and sexual identity, age groups from high school to seniors, all social and economic status, all ethnic and racial groups, all areas of health, all religious groups, all work statuses and occupations. Our only restriction at this time is that the classes are in English.
FUNDS TO PROVIDE MEDITATION CLASSES
Hayehwatha Institute is looking for funds to provide free online meditation classes, especially during COVID-19. If you can help us, contact [email protected].
