GENERAL INFORMATION
Who We Are
Our mission is to provide abandoned, abused, special needs, and stray animals with a place of comfort, safety, and health and ultimately find them loving, responsible, permanent homes. We specialize in helping animals that have no advocate, those that have been abandoned on the streets or who have been abused. Secondly, we seek to reduce the population of unwanted companion animals by arranging for their spay/neutering prior to their adoption. Finally, we seek to provide information to the public on how to better provide for and enjoy their companion animals.
To help fulfill our mission, Whiskers operates a unique shelter where most of the cats are uncaged and free-roaming! The cats have beds, chairs, scratching posts and all sorts of toys to play with. Whiskers also maintains foster homes for housing Mom cats and their kittens, pregnant cats, abandoned kittens and sick and injured cats.

MISSION AND PROGRAMS
Mission
We save many cats from horrible abuse situations, from living on the streets, those with special needs that most shelters would euthanize. We make sure every cat is spayed/neutered before being adopted to help reduce the population of unwanted companion animals.
Programs
We maintain the Capital District's only no-kill, free-roaming cat shelter that currently maintains about 100 cats. We have just as many cats in foster homes also. We have also just moved into the new Petsmart adoption center in Clifton Park, NY.
GOALS AND RESULTS
Accomplishments for Fiscal Year Ending December 31, 2006
- We have placed about 200 cats in permanent homes this year.
- We saved over 20 cats from a home in Niskayuna, NY that was overrun with cats and everything covered in feces in urine. One other shelter took cats also and they put all of them down, we have not put one single cat down. We have spared no expense when treating these or any other cats in our care.
Objectives for Fiscal Year Beginning January 1, 2007
- We hope to raise a lot more money next year with a major new fundraiser to be announced soon.
- We will continue to save as many cats as we possibly can from abusive situations, from the streets and from abandonment.
- We would like to purchase a new shelter.

Balance Sheet: Fiscal Year Ending December 31, 2003
Note: The balance sheet gives a snapshot of the financial health of an organization at a particular point in time. An organization's total assets should generally exceed its total liabilities, or it cannot long survive, but the types of assets and liabilities also must be considered. For instance, an organization's current assets (cash, receivables, securities, etc.) should be sufficient to cover its current liabilities (payables, deferred revenue, current year loan and note payments). Otherwise, the organization may face solvency problems. On the other hand, an organization whose cash and equivalents greatly exceed its current liabilities might not be putting its money to best use.
