MISSION AND PROGRAMS
Mission
The Children''s Museum & Theatre of Maine exists to inspire discovery and imagination through exploration and play. The Museum & Theatre serves as an indispensable resource for families and educators, helping to create a broad community devoted to our children''s development and learning.
Programs
The Museum offers a broad and diverse array of educational and cultural enrichment opportunities for children and the adults who accompany them. Interactive exhibits span four floors and programs with hands-on activities are offered daily. Our core work is in supporting life learning and building educational capacity in the community. We provide free-choice learning settings and innovative programs that seek to enhance educational opportunities and improve educational resources. The Museum's primary focus areas are: science, global culture, and early childhood development. These areas were selected after careful study of community needs and available resources as well as the Museum's capacity to deliver high quality exhibits and programs in these areas. Primarily for children (6 mos-10 yrs) and their families and caregivers; students (Pre-K through 5th grade) and their teachers.

Balance Sheet: Fiscal Year Ending June 30, 2008
Note: The balance sheet gives a snapshot of the financial health of an organization at a particular point in time. An organization's total assets should generally exceed its total liabilities, or it cannot long survive, but the types of assets and liabilities also must be considered. For instance, an organization's current assets (cash, receivables, securities, etc.) should be sufficient to cover its current liabilities (payables, deferred revenue, current year loan and note payments). Otherwise, the organization may face solvency problems. On the other hand, an organization whose cash and equivalents greatly exceed its current liabilities might not be putting its money to best use.
