MISSION AND PROGRAMS
Mission
Women''s voices are too often excluded from public discourse. Gains for women and girls, made over decades of struggle, are being systematically rolled back. From human and civil rights to economic security, from reproductive rights to equal opportunity, from violence against women to leadership in science, academia, and business, we still have much to do.
Programs
The Council uses women's research to: - Advance progressive change and social justice by producing and raising the visibility of accurate information on women and girls, so that local, national, and global policies are based on realities not myths, assumptions, and biases. - Provide new visions and perspectives for addressing the most pressing issues of our time at all decision-making levels by including women's experiences and voices in the media, the workforce, education, and in government. - Empower women and girls to join vital debates and become effective agents for change in their homes, workplaces, communities, and in public life.

Balance Sheet: Fiscal Year Ending September 30, 2008
Note: The balance sheet gives a snapshot of the financial health of an organization at a particular point in time. An organization's total assets should generally exceed its total liabilities, or it cannot long survive, but the types of assets and liabilities also must be considered. For instance, an organization's current assets (cash, receivables, securities, etc.) should be sufficient to cover its current liabilities (payables, deferred revenue, current year loan and note payments). Otherwise, the organization may face solvency problems. On the other hand, an organization whose cash and equivalents greatly exceed its current liabilities might not be putting its money to best use.
