MISSION AND PROGRAMSMissionThe 3D Center of Art and Photography exists to preserve and promote all aspects of three-dimensional imagery by educating the community about its history and development, providing a public exhibition space, and serving as a repository for the collection and care of 3D images and equipment. ProgramsThe 3D Center of Art and Photography displays contemporary and antique 3-dimensional imagery with rotating displays, exhibitions and slide shows. The Center includes interactive displays, 3D slide shows, exhibits of 3D art and equipment, a gift store and library. The Center maintains a working committee which runs the Cascade Stereoscopic Club, an amateur 3D photography club with monthly programs and mentoring for those who want to learn more about making 3D images. CSC has been active in presenting public displays and workshops throughout the Northwest. Programs have been presented at senior citizen homes, athletic clubs, schools, museums, photographic clubs. In addition, the annual Cascade International Exhibition draws entries worldwide with accepted entries displayed on a public website and to the public at the 3D Center. The exhibition includes slides, prints and digital images and is open to anyone who wishes to participate. CSC has a limited amount of stereo photography equipment which can be borrowed by beginning 3D photographers. Projectors and screens are used at monthly meetings and anyone may bring images to project. Monthly meetings also provide an opportunity to ask questions and get advice. Meetings are open to anyone. The 3D Center publishes a quarterly newsletter which is mailed to supporter throughout the United States and which is published on the Center's website. The newsletter carries information and articles about contemporary 3D artists and activities at the Center. Through classes and exhibitions, the 3D Center encourages new artists in the medium of 3D imagery and allows them an opportunity to display their work. Additional Comments from the OrganizationThe 3D Center has recently acquired the archives of the Oliver Wendell Holmes Stereoscopic Research Library. This wealth of information will expand the reference materials available in the 3D Center Reference Library. In addition, the Photographic Society of America, Stereo Division, has placed nearly 650 lbs of stereoscopic slides in the keeping of the 3D Center. This heritage of stereoscopic imagery needs to be catelogued and put to use. Cascade Stereoscopic Club has garnered worldwide respect by being a forerunner in promoting 3D exhibitions on the worldwide web. In 1998, in a ground breaking move, CSC held the first electronic stereo exhibition to be approved by the Photographic Society of America. GOALS AND RESULTSAccomplishments for Fiscal Year Ending December 31, 2007
Objectives for Fiscal Year Beginning January 1, 2008
Self AssessmentThe Board of Directors reviews the year's activities and accomplishments in December or January of each year. At that time, new goals are set or old goals are reaffirmed. FINANCIAL DATARevenues and Expenses: Fiscal Year Ending December 31, 2003
Balance Sheet: Fiscal Year Ending December 31, 2003Note: The balance sheet gives a snapshot of the financial health of an organization at a particular point in time. An organization's total assets should generally exceed its total liabilities, or it cannot long survive, but the types of assets and liabilities also must be considered. For instance, an organization's current assets (cash, receivables, securities, etc.) should be sufficient to cover its current liabilities (payables, deferred revenue, current year loan and note payments). Otherwise, the organization may face solvency problems. On the other hand, an organization whose cash and equivalents greatly exceed its current liabilities might not be putting its money to best use.
Financial Comments from the OrganizationOriginally formed as a non-profit corporation under the name Cascade Stereoscopic Club, the name of the non-profit corporation was changed in 2006 to 3D Center of Art and Photography. 2004 was a pivitol year in that Cascade Stereoscopic Club leased a space for a public 3D informational center, which became the 3D Center of Art and Photography. The Center houses 3D displays, slide shows, informational reading boards, and hosts public activities. Fundraising for improvements to the space and for purchase of equipment has built up the exhibits and equipment and has helped supply inventory for the gift shop. Currently there is one part time paid staff person and all the rest of the Center's work is done by volunteers. The Center is open four days a week. Copyright 2010, Philanthropic Research, Inc.
