Who We AreWe are passionate, visionary and tenacious volunteers dedicated to the Komen mission; to eradicate breast cancer as a life-threatening disease by advancing research, education, screening and treatment. The Indianapolis Affiliate is one of 115 affiliates in the nation and one of four affiliates in Indiana.

Chief ExecutiveMs. Stephanie Mannon Chief Executive ProfileStephanie Mannon is the Executive Director of the Susan G. Komen Breast Cancer Foundation Indianapolis Affiliate, which produces the award winning Indianapolis Komen Race for the CureŽ. With experience in public affairs, politics and philanthropy, Stephanie previously served as the Special Assistant to Indiana Secretary of State Sue Anne Gilroy and Project Manager for the Indiana Bipartisan Task Force on Election Integrity. Mannon is passionate about the work of the Susan G. Komen Breast Cancer Foundation because of her own family?s experiences with the disease. A graduate of the University of Tennessee, Stephanie is active in the Indianapolis community as a member of Trinity Episcopal Church and the Junior League of Indianapolis Endowment Board. MISSION AND PROGRAMSMissionThe Indianapolis Affiliate of the Susan G. Komen Breast Cancer Foundation is committed to its mission--to eradicate breast cancer as a life-threatening disease by advancing research, education, screening and treatment. ProgramsThe Susan G. Komen Breast Cancer Foundation raises significant funds and awareness for the fight against breast cancer. Proceeds of all fundraising events fund global research efforts, meritorious awards and local breast health and breast cancer outreach programs. Up to 75 percent of net proceeds fund community projects related to breast health education and breast cancer screening and treatment. These projects are selected based on a needs assessment conducted every two years. The remainder of the net proceeds (a minimum of 25 percent) supports the Komen Foundation Award and Research Grant Program, which funds groundbreaking breast cancer research and meritorious awards. Additional Comments from the OrganizationThe Indianapolis Affiliate's signature event is the Komen Indianapolis Race for the CureŽ scheduled for Saturday, April 24, 2004. This spectacular day of celebration, hope and remembrance has generated over 3.6 million dollars, and hosted over 125,000 participants since 1992. In 2003, over 36,000 participants, including 1,600-plus breast cancer survivors, and many corporate sponsors raised in excess of $1,100,000.
